Print a guest Wi-Fi sign with a QR code
A clear QR at the entrance beats spelling a long password aloud. Generate the code on a staff device, print it, and post it where guests can scan without crowding the counter.
Steps
- On a trusted computer or phone, open WifiSignQR.
- Enter SSID and password. Prefer WPA2/WPA3.
- Use Print / PDF. The page prints the Wi‑Fi card only: the QR, “Scan to join Wi‑Fi”, and the network name. The password is not printed as text. Download PNG if you want the code by itself.
- Print high-contrast on white paper. Laminate if the sign lives outdoors or near a coffee machine.
Placement tips
- Eye level near the door or host stand; avoid glare and heavy shadow.
- Keep at least a quiet margin of white space around the QR so cameras can lock on.
- If you rotate passwords, reprint and discard the old sign the same day.
What not to do
- Do not generate the QR on a public library PC and leave the tab open.
- Do not post the password in huge type next to an open network in a dense apartment block if you care about freeloaders — QR is convenient, not a substitute for guest-network isolation on your router.
