Make a vCard contact QR code in the browser
Below the Wi‑Fi generator on the home page is an optional Contact / vCard QR section. Fill in name, phone, email, and organization. The page builds a VERSION:3.0 vCard string in memory and draws a scannable QR — same privacy model as Wi‑Fi (no server).
When to use vCard vs Wi‑Fi
- Wi‑Fi QR: guest network access on a wall sign.
- vCard QR: business cards, conference badges, “save my contact” tent cards.
Do not put your Wi‑Fi password into the vCard fields. Keep the two tools separate on the page.
Steps
- Scroll to Contact / vCard QR.
- Enter the fields you want scanners to import. Empty fields are omitted from the payload.
- Preview, then Print / PDF or Download PNG. Print keeps this card only.
- Test with a phone camera — you should get an “Add contact” style prompt on many devices.
Format notes
We emit vCard 3.0 text (BEGIN:VCARD … END:VCARD). The formal vCard specification is RFC 6350 (vCard 4.0); many phone importers still accept 3.0 widely used in QR contacts. MECARD one-liners exist as an alternate encoding in some ecosystems; this UI focuses on vCard.
Privacy
Contact fields never leave this device. Generate badges on your own laptop, not on a shared event kiosk that the next speaker will inherit.
